TRANSIT FLOOR SYSTEM

Since 1997, Milwaukee Composites Inc. (MCI) has been recognized as the leading global supplier of advanced phenolic composite panels by supplying the transit industry with our light weight, innovative flooring solution. MCI’s custom designed floor panels eliminate delamination and moisture problems traditionally associated with cur-rent panel constructions. This cost effective solution has been designed to be maintenance free and will last the service life of the car.

Along with being lightweight, MCI floors exceed all global fire safety standards by utilizing a phenolic resin matrix recognized as the best flame-smoke-toxicity polymer. Phenolic resins ensure the highest quality control with regards to fire safety compliance without the use of any resin additives. The composite sandwich construction uses structural fiberglass fabrics that are impregnated with phenolic resin and co-cured to a lightweight core during the molding process. MCI custom engineers our floor panels to the structural requirements of the car builder while minimizing both cost and weight. Using our numerous CNC routers, MCI’s floor panels can be machined in complex geometries with guaranteed repeatability. When necessary, metal hardware complements the composite floor design to accommodate the assembly of various components (stanchion poles, seats, electrical lockers, driver platforms, etc).

MCI’s floor will save cost for the transit authorities as well the car builder or retrofitter. For the car owners, MCI’s maintenance free floor allows for budgets previously allocated for floor replacements to be used elsewhere. In addition, the weights savings realized by our light weight panels have been proven to save significant annual energy costs.
